GUZZI GEARS UP
ROUNDUP
MOTO GUZZI has upped the cruiser ante with its V11 Bassa. Based on the CW comparison-winning V11 EV (“Lucky 13!” March, 1998), the latest Italian
boulevard bomber boasts a more laidback riding position and updated styling.
Changes include a wider handlebar, folding footpegs in place of floorboards and a lower, two-piece seat. Adjustable SachsBoge shocks replace the previous WP rear dampers, and are said to deliver compliance and ride quality unexpected from a cruiser.
Re-done rocker covers give the 1064cc, pushrod-actuated, 90degree V-Twin a cleaner appearance. Ditto the new, more graceful rear-end treatment. Overall, then, the V11 Bassa delivers glitz without garishness. Guzzi has built on the EV’s plaudits, and produced a cruiser that’s both distinctive and distinguished.
