BIMOTA SB8R ON TRACK

Bimota’s stunning SB8R made its racetrack debut recently at Italy’s Misano circuit. Despite its unfinished appearance, the Suzuki TL1OOOR-powered Superbike (see Roundup,

January, 1998) remains on-track to head Bimota’s long-awaited return to World Superbike competition. The last time Bimota entered a WSB event was several years ago with Brit Terry Rymer aboard a GSX-R750-based SB7.

Problems with the bike’s fuel injection put a swift end to the project. Since then, the company has spent most of its time fiddling with the problematic two-stroke Vdue. The street version of the SB8R will retail for $22,850. -Fermino Fraternali
