HONDA RC50 REVEALED
Sharp-eyed observers curious about Honda’s all-new RC50 repli-racer, conceived as a replacement for the now-out-of-date RC30, would have done well to have been on hand for the opening round of the All-Japan F1 championship in early March. In that race, Shinya Takeishi rode to third place on the bike you see here. It is rumored to be a prototype of the RC50, which is said to be powered by a narrow-angle V-Four capable of producing up to 150 horsepower. Rumors are also circulating about a new VFR750, which, reportedly will look less like the racebike and more like the oval-piston NR750, but will use a derivative of the RC50’s engine tuned to produce about 115 horsepower. Both bikes are expected as 1994 models. For now, Honda is withholding comment.
