KAL-GARD FILTER CLEANER
CW EVALUATION
Shortcut in a can.
THERE’S A RIGHT WAY AND THERE’S A wrong way to do most things in life. The problem is that if you try to do everything the right way, almost nothing gets done. If you want an example, just look at your last tax return.
Cleaning a motorcycle’s air filter is one of those tasks that can be done right or wrong, and almost everyone who doesn’t have a solvent tank does it the wrong way, usually relying on a liberal application of gasoline to clean away the grime and crud. But before you reach for that gas can, you should know there’s a right way that’s so easy it should be wrong. Kal-Gard Filter Cleaner is a spray-on product that makes the whole task embarrassingly painless. You simply spray a light coat on the dirty filter, let it sit for a minute or two, then spray the filter, from the inside out, with a garden hose. If it’s still dirty, do it again.
There are several advantages to Kal-Gard's method. First of all, you > won’t burn down the house. Also, Filter Cleaner works equally well on dirt and oil—solvent only cleans oily filters well and doesn’t really get dirt out; detergent only cleans dirt and won’t touch the greasy stuff. And Filter Cleaner is much easier on the filter itself, as it won’t eat away at the filter’s seams or make the foam eventually dry out.
Filter Cleaner works on both foam and gauze filters. It’s a unique product, and at $4.48, it’s one that should be in every motorcyclist’s garage. It proves that sometimes the shortcut is the right way.
