LATE NEWS FROM CANADA

Mosport Park, the new road circuit near Toronto, will stage a full scale International race next year on June 30th. Sanctioned by the Federation International Motocycliste, the event will be called the Grand Prix of Canada.
At this time of year, motorcycling in most of Canada is confined to trials, endurance runs and scrambles, though later in the season ice racing will be a feature event, with National Championships being held in Quebec City.
The National Championship Trial was a victory for the 1961 President of the Canadian Motorcycle Association, riding a works Triumph Cub. Gordon Raza of Montreal thus becomes the first C.M.A. President ever to win this National title.
Annual elections at the C.M.A. meeting, where nominations are received from all the Centres of the association across Canada, resulted in the election of Dick Leeson of Ottawa as President, Doug Moreton of Toronto as Vice-President. Enthusiastic, youthful and filled with new ideas, these two motorcyclists will give excellent lead to the association in the coming year.
A few notes on the Canadian Motorcycle Association Inc. . . Founded in 1946 and incorporated in 1957, the association governs motorcycling as a sport in Canada. It is affiliated directly with the F.I.M., and so can send International riders to compete abroad, as well as organize events in Canada for International participation. Affiliated clubs send representatives to the Centres, which are geographical divisions of the country. At these meetings local affairs are discussed, and recommendations passed on to the National Executive which consists of elected officers, nominated and voted in by the Centre representatives. The democratic nature of the C.M.A. is clearly to be seen.
All officers work without pay, and a great deal is done by these hard working people. Each month a magazine, the C.M.A. News, keeps the members up to date with events and happenings in the association.
Future issues of CYCLE WORLD will carry stories of Canada’s main events, as well as informed opinions of motorcycling in general. Write to the Editor of CYCLE WORLD if you want to know more about the C.M.A. He will be glad to send on your letter.
