Cycle Guys FastRack
Baggage handler
WONDERFUL, TESTOSTERONE-ELEVATing device, the modern repli-racer, flagship of the fleet. But just try going anywhere on one of the darn things! Most have all the carrying capacity of your wife's trendy little evening bag. Sure, a tankbag helps, but when its time to really get your swerve on, having a lump of nylon jabbing you in the gut is little distracting. A tail trunk is useful, if a little small, and you're always reach ing around to see if it's still attached.
The Cycle Guys, a small Southern California outfit, has an alternative. The FastRack is an 1/8th-inch sheet of 5052 aluminum, anodized black and laser-etched with the company logo; dimensions are 17 x 9.9 inches. A series of centrally located slots allows the rack to be cinched down tightly to the passenger seat pad using the supplied velcro straps. Takes maybe a minute, even for the frimble-fingered.
Now piop your duffel bag onto the rack -~. and secure it with bun gees using the 18 perim eter slots, no need to scratch swoopy bodywork with the straps-though because we're worry-warts, we did use a second set of bungees care fully attached to the bike to lash down heavy loads. At $50, the FastRack might seem a little pricey, but it's a well-made product that does exactly what it claims, and hey, a mod em sportbike deserves a modem lug gage rack, right?
