MINOLI LEAVES DUCATI

Federico Minoli has stepped down from his post as CEO of Ducati. During the past 10 years, he learned a lot about motorcycling, and he did it the hard way-hard for him and hard for the company that through those years experienced many highs and lows. Minoli dictated Ducati policy with contradictory results, mostly due to his lack of specific knowledge about the industry.

But when a series of not-so-successful models set Ducati nose-down, he put in his best performance and brought the company back together.

It took Minoli 10 years to fully understand Ducati and its mission within the industry, but the new 1098 Superbike and the Hypermotard 1100 (and the coming-soon Desmosedici RR) prove that he finally steered the company away from a too fragmented range toward a more selective, high er-quality series of machines in the best Ducati tradition.

Minoli passes the revived torch to Gabriele del Torchio, who was hired away from the Ferretti luxu ry boat yards. -Bruno de Prato
