CHOPS AHOY!

Hyped as the biggest custom-bike gathering in America, the L.A. Calendar Motorcycle Show takes place July 16-17 alongside the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Should be a good time, with $70000 in cash and prizes up for grabs in several

classes, plus dyno shootouts, bands playing, bike-building seminars given by the likes of Paul Yaffe and Exile Cycle’s Russell Mitchell, as weil as three-time best-of-show winner Jesse Rooke, and more than 170 vendors on hand. New this year are the Metric Cruiser Roadhouse and Sportbike Midway.

Sadly, the show is put on by Jim Gianatsis, the same boorish fellow responsible for the highly exploitive line of Iron & Lace calendars (www.fastdates.com), featuring poor, struggling starlets in various states of undress no doubt enticed with hollow promises of fame and fortune to pose provocatively on motorcycles. Even worse, some of these unfortunates will be struttinu about the showurounds nerched atou shoes with

very little arch support and casting disproportionate, surgically enhanced shadows on the ground
