Speed is all very well and good, but sometimes a man simply needs a clean change of skivvies. Hayabusa pilots in search of carrying capacity must go to the aftermarket, which is where we found the new, appropriately named Velocity line of soft luggage from Joe Rocket (www.rocket racing.com).

An impressive array of bags it is, too, capable .. of easily ingesting a week's supply of road gear and spare clothing, all for a total of $330-or % about the cost of one BMW sport saddlebag. The tankbag features oversized magnetic aprons that dwarf the gas tanks of smaller bikes, but come in mighty handy during the `Busa's frequent blasts to light-speed. Lots of tie-down straps for the saddlebags, too, and a clever hidden bungee net for strapping down that keg of Bavarian Black for Egan's next Slimey Crud meeting.
