You saw it here, the out-there picture by famed French photographer Gerard Rancinan of a naked Loris Capirossi and Troy Bayliss in

flanking a Ducati Desmosedici, with team boss Claudio Domenicali in the center, apparently

staring straight ahead so as not to witness any roadracer manhood (“Underdog, Overdog,” September, 2003). Apparently, Rancinan’s buzz hasn’t worn off yet, as he’s now assembled Kenny Roberts, a Proton V-Five and a couple of cosmic disco refugees linked to said engine by “umbilical and intravenous tubes,” to create a piece he calls “The Spirit.” Says an agent for the artist, “They stand for the power of Kenny’s dream, and the inevitable pain of realization.” Inevitable pain of realization, indeed... -Mark Hoyer
