ROUNDUP

UP: To the Buell Riders Adventure Group, for pumping up the volume. During a brief four-year period, club membership has risen from 1500 to more than 8000. This year, BRAG is really moving into high gear, adding benefits and planning national and regional events, many of which will include appearances by company founder Erik Buell. “The organization not only allows riders to develop a closer relationship with their local dealer, but it also provides them with an opportunity to get out on the road and ride with other Buell enthusiasts,” says Buell. For more info, contact your local Buell dealer.

DOWN: To coach-turned-broadcaster Jerry Glanville, for zigging when he should have been zagging. During pre-game ceremonies for a Minnesota Viking football game last fall, Glanville copped a ride on the team mascot’s motorcycle and smashed into Minneapolis Star Tribune reporter Paul Levy, who suffered arm and shoulder injuries. Now, Levy is suing both Glanville and Fox Sports. The suit accuses Glanville of “failing to exercise care in driving the motorcycle or to maintain proper control.” Glanville’s response? “What I did was run into a sportswriter,” he said. “I’ve been trying to kill one of those guys for years.”

UP: To the Rampart Range Motorcycle Management Committee, for kicking some serious environmental ass. Over the last eight years, the non-profit organization has received a whopping $500,000 from Colorado’s 0HV program to preserve trails in the Pike-San Isabel National Forest. Most recently, the group scored $64,400 for a new bulldozer. The RRMMC is also responsible for initiating a voluntary donation program that benefits all trail-users. To date, more than $213,000 has been raised.
