UPS AND DOWNS
UP: As in grow up, to Forrest “Twister” Lane, for getting a head start on his racing career. Standing just 2 feet tall, the 3-year-old motocrosser from Barnesville, Georgia, regularly beats kids twice his age on a modified Yamaha PW50. According to a recent article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
Twister predicts, “I’m gonna be number one when I get 17!” His mom has already fabricated a Jeremy McGrath-replica goatee for the tiny tot to wear when he motos.
DOWN: To Phillip S. Zanghi II, for using the American public’s enthusiasm for the Indian name to deceive them. The U.S. Attorney’s office recently indicted the wouldbe Indian “revivalist” on charges that he defrauded investors of more than $800,000. The federal indictment alleges that Zanghi, 50, used the money to purchase luxury items-including a Ferrari, fur coats and a $10,000 Rolex watch-not to restart the Indian Motocycle Company as promised. According to the Wall Street Journal, if found guilty, Zanghi faces up to 10 years in prison and/or a maximum fine of $1 million for each of 12 securitiesfraud counts. There could be other penalties on tax-evasion and money-laundering charges.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy...
UP: To “Friends” star Matt LeBlanc, for using his head for something other than smiling at TV cameras. LeBlanc, an avid motorcyclist since age 8, told InStyle magazine that ever since he “skidded underneath a Volvo” on his way to a taping, fans won’t recognize him in their rear-view mirrors.
“I wear a full-face helmet, which makes me look more like a comic book superhero than an actor,” he says. It’s also a clever way to throw off the paparazzi, eh Matt?
