GABY RIDES
WHAT DOES TENNIS champion Gabriela Sabatini do when she’s not battling the likes of Steffi Graf and Martina Navratilova? She rides motorcycles.
“When I want to get away from it all, I get on my motorcycle,” says Sabatini, who owns a 1992 Honda CBR600F2. “Riding a motorcycle is like playing a tennis match in some ways. They both relieve stress, and require concentration and quick reflexes. I love the feeling of independence and no one knows me when I wear my helmet.”
Sabatini is scheduled to compete in the Virginia Slims Championship at New York’s Madison Square Garden in mid-November, but don’t expect her to ride to the arena. “I’ve never ridden in New York City before,” she says. "I wouldn't want to, since there is so much traffic and too many lights. I don't think it would be too relaxing."
