Be a Movistar

Reigning 500cc World Champion Kenny Roberts Jr. hasn’t enjoyed the best of title defenses, what with only one podium finish so far this season (see Race Watch, this issue). So, why not show your support for the man from Modesto by popping for a 2002 Team Telefonica Movistar Suzuki Limited Edition GSX-R600?

There may not be a 185-horsepower V-Four two-stroke lurking within the replica plastic, but the smallest Gixxer is nonetheless one of the hottest middleweights going. Besides splashy, $250 more pricey, new paint, the GSXR600 now benefits from bolt-on bungee hooks and a polished stainless-steel exhaust system in place of the previous black-painted tubing. Both headlights now operate in low-beam mode, as well.

Same goes for the GSX-R750, which has also sprouted a height-adjustable swingarm. What’s more, the fuelinjected iniine-Four’s secondary throttle valve is now driven by a throttle-body-mounted stepper motor for reduced weight and more precise overall control of the unique dual-throttle system. Two new paint schemes, plus the aforementioned hooks and pipe, top changes to the GSX-R1000. j.

Lastly (never!), the 194-mph Hayabusa also picks up the polished exhaust, but is otherwise unfettered.
