ON THE LIST

Buying or selling a motorcycle? Perhaps a new service being offered by National Cycle Lists (R0. Box 440998, Aurora, CO 800440998; 800/851-6687) will be of help. The company has announced a classified listing service which will include the vital stats of a minimum of 150 machines per monthly report. If you’re a buyer, you buy a copy of the report. That costs you $5. If you’re a seller, you list your bike on the report. The seller’s fee is $20 per listing, and that’s good until the bike listed is sold. For more information or a listing form, contact National Cycle Lists.

AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 MONTHS?

Nick Sanders, of Cheshire, England, has chosen an unusual adventure. He’s also chosen an unusual mount aboard which to attempt it. Sanders, who calls himself a “professional adventurer,” recently embarked on a 20,000mile trip around the globe riding a 500cc, sidecar-equipped Royal Enfield motorcycle. Sanders, wearing an old-style, pudding-bowl helmet, left his trip’s starting point-Douglas, on the Isle of Man-after being flagged off from the Isle of Man TT grandstand area by nine-time TT winner and lap-record-holder Steve Hislop. Sanders will follow a route that will take him through 20 countries and will allow him to visit the Enfield factory in India where his motorcycle was made. Sanders plans to complete his ride in September during the Isle of Man’s fall racing series.

INDIAN MAGAZINE ANNOUNCED

The last new Indian motorcycle may have rolled off its Springfield, Massachusetts, assembly line in 1953, but interest in the grand old marque continues unabated. Enthusiasm for the machines is so great that publisher Buzz Kanter of TAM Communications (6 Prowitt St., Norwalk, CT 06855; 203/8550008) recently announced his intent to publish a magazine titled Indian Motorcycle Illustrated. Kanter says the 72-page magazine is scheduled to go on sale in late April, with a second issue scheduled for late September. He said the first issue will feature photos of Indian’s first boardtrack racer and an Indian sidehack outfit once owned by the late Steve McQueen. “Regardless of whether new Indians roll or not...there are a lot of Indian enthusiasts looking for a magazine like this,” said Kanter.
