HONDA'S SUPER FOUR SEEN AT SUZUKA

HONDA’S CB1000 SUPER Four, otherwise known as Project Big One, made a surprise appearance at the Suzuka 8-Hour roadrace in Japan, where several were used by track marshals. As reported previously in Cycle World, the standard-style Super Four is powered by a liquid-cooled, dohc, 16-valve inline-Four sourced from the CBR1000F, though this probably is detuned from that sportbike's claimed 130

horsepower. The bike’s tubularsteel frame is suspended by what appears to be a 43mm, RC30-style fork, and a pair of remote-reservoir dampers attached to a massive, rectangular-section aluminum swingarm. A 4-into-l exhaust is part of the package, and the bikes rolls on fashionably wide tires. It appears likely that the Super Four will be sold in the U.S. in 1993, going up against Kawasaki’s ZR1100 in the sport-standard category.
