A NEW CHASSIS KIT HAS BEEN developed Down Under which offers owners of bevel-drive Ducati Twins the opportunity to exchange the rangy handling of their twin-shockers fora more modern feel.

Vee Two Engineering (Unit 1/108 Beech boro Road, Bayswater, WA 6053 Australia) offers its Alchemy chassis kit in two versions—SV-1 for street use and RV-1 for the track. Both are now available for any Ducati from the pre-Pantah era.

The Alchemy chassis offers a much shorter wheelbase than the stock Ducati chassis, a stiffer chrome-moly frame, contemporary steering geometry, and a rising-rate rear suspension whose specially developed White Power shock is located on the left side of the chassis and operated through an offset linkage from the alloy swingarm. With a wheelbase of 54.3 inches and just 3.9 inches of trail, the Alchemy kit is claimed to offer quick steering and it permits use of wider wheels and modern, 17-inch rubber.

The Alchemy kit includes not only the frame, swingarm, rear shock and front triple clamps, but also the one-piece fiberglass seat and tank-shroud unit, and separate front bikini fairing, as well as the 4.5gallon, alloy fuel tank.

Current cost of the complete kit, ready to accept the customer’s choice of wheels, brakes, forks and bars, plus the original Ducati engine, exhausts and electrics, is $2700. Or, Vee Two will build a complete bike with reconditioned Mille engine, if that’s what you’d like. —Alan Catheart
