A grim reminder that sport is deeply influenced by politics was the FIM notice that the Polish sanctioning body, Polski Zwiazek Motorowy, cancelled the 250cc Motocross Grand Prix and the second round of the Individual Speedway World Championship. Both events were scheduled for May in Poland. Other Polish events threatened by the country’s internal disorder and economic problems include the September round of the Trials World Championship and the final round of the Individual Speedway World Championship scheduled for July.
