BOOK REVIEW
THE COMPLETE MOTORCYCLIST’S HANDBOOK By David Minton Simon and Schuster $10.95
Here we have a classic case of conflict of interest. As the title implies, this is a book for the new motorcy clist. As you'd also guess, the book contains information on how to ride, where to ride, what to buy, how a motorcycle works, how to maintain it, what to wear, etc.
As one note for the above, this book was written by an Englishman and first pubfished there. The U.S. edition has been revised, i.e. the bikes are shown in the right lane rather than the left lane, but much of the material itself is better suited to England than America. Information on U.S. training programs, for instance, isn’t included.
More important for this review, Cycle World also publishes a book for the newcomer. Naturally we think ours is better. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t have written it. But we can’t judge this one fairly. By the same logic, we would be remiss if we suppressed the fact of its availability. Restraint of trade, they call it. So, the book is for sale at bookstores, and the rest we’ll leave to the reader.
