HARLEY RULES DRAGBIKE SEASON

The AMA-affiliated, amateur-oriented Dragbike organization remains a haven for Harley-Davidsons, Triumphs and other motorcycles eclipsed by Japanese bikes in NMRA and IDBA drag racing. And there’s no better example than 47-year-old Pete Hill, who rode his 84 c.i., 1947 Harley knucklehead to the 1981 Dragbike Top Fuel championship.

Hill owns his own motorcycle shop in Greenville, South Carolina. His wife,

Jackie, serves as his crew.

Hill’s nitro-burning Harley ran consistent times of 8.2 sec. and 170 mph during the Dragbike season, about 1.0 sec. and 20 mph off the typical E.T. and terminal speed needed to win NMRA and IDBA Top Fuel races.
