RANGER BACKREST

A custom designed combination backrest and luggage box, with optional pinstriping, now is offered by Wixom Bros. The unit fits racks having vertical portions approximately 8-in. high and 10-in. wide. BUYING USED MOTORCYCLES

Bernard Publications has released a new book titled “How To Buy A Used Motorcycle.” The book includes simplified tables allowing readers to estimate wholesale and retail prices. The book is available through Power Rider Co., Dept. 44, CW-8, Box 158, Saugus, CA 91350 for $1.95.

MINI-BIKE ENGINES

Fitchel & Sachs AG has introduced two mini-bike engines—the 50/ADX two-cycle 3-bhp engine with two-speed automatic transmission, and the 80 B 5.2-bhp for trail and road mini-bikes. DRAG FRAME

Custom-built drag frames, available now for the Sportster, will soon be available for the 74s from Chapman Performance Products. The frames feature 68 to 72-in. wheelbases with 4 in. of rear wheel adjustment, complete chrome-moly construction using heli-arc welding, and 40-degree neck angle. Top, front and rear motor mounts are included as integral members of the frame’s construction. Price is $395. Chapman Performance Products, 5567 N. Elston Ave., Dept. CYCLE-LARM

A new motorcycle alarm for Honda CB 500 or 750 models is smaller than a pack of cigarettes and contains a transistorized electronic circuit which sends out a screaming siren sound when the bike is taken off the kick stand. The bike cannot be ridden or picked up without sounding the alarm. The unit is offered for $24.95 from Gauges Galore, Dept. CW-8, 108 4th St., N.E., Mason City, Iowa 50401, or through local dealers.

CUSTOM HEADERS

Kooks now offers dyno-tuned Honda 750 headers featuring patented tuned equal length primaries with a maximum scavaging collector system, chromed over 17 ga. tubing for $119, or black finish for $109. KONI DISTRIBUTOR

Beck-Arnley has been appointed distributor for Koni Motorcycle Shocks. The Dutch-made suspension unit is available in four universal lengths as well as “bolt-on” units for AJS, BMW, BSA, Guzzi, Honda, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, Laverda, Maico, Norton, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha, and retail for $24 each.

HONDA SIDE COVERS

Racecrafters International has rounded out its line of finned aluminum goodies for Hondas with new left side covers for the 500cc and 750cc four-cylinder models. The cover matches the right hand contact point cover introduced earlier. The fins are angled to match the engine fins and are contoured to enhance the Four’s racing appearance. Installation of the highly polished aluminum cover is said to take about 10 min. with screws supplied with each cover.
