NEW DOT TRIALER
As long as there’s an England there will always be the Dot. These bikes were first manufactured in 1903 and have been going strong ever since. Dot’s latest enterprise is the Dot-Minarelli trialer. A lightweight Italian two-stroke engine displacing 170 cc has been mated to an extremely strong but light cradle frame. The 13-bhp Minarelli powerplant incorporates such features as a heat-insulated 25-mm Dellorto carburetor, aluminum alloy cylinder and head, four-speed gearbox and a helically geared primary drive. The frame uses steel forgings in its steering head construction which won’t distort or deform under stress. Also the steering head is reinforced by the frame’s triangulated configuration which ensures precision handling under the roughest use. The 178-lb. machine boasts an array of alternative fork springs to support different weights of riders and varying terrain conditions. Gearing is changeable through the quickly removable chain sprockets of 13, 15 or 17 teeth, while the buyer is also offered a choice of low, medium or high lift handlebars. Wheelbase measures out to 52.3 in. and ground clearance is 12 in. Write to the Dot Cycle & Motor Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Dept. CW-3, Ellesmere St., Manchester 15, England.
