BULTACO RIDER ACCESSORIES

Bultaco of Spain has made available through its American dealers a new line of excellent quality riding apparel. This selection includes such items as motocross gloves, trousers and boots. Trials boots and light gloves are available, as well as a large carry-all bag.

The motocross gloves are black leather, with heavy felt strips sewn on the back for extra protection. Felt was chosen rather than rubber because rubber deteriorates more rapidly. The leather is quite pliable and does not irritate the palms under adverse riding conditions. Trials riding gloves are also offered, and their construction is ideally suited for this type of competition. A pig skin palm is used for its extra anti-slip qualities. The back is of black kid with the Bultaco emblem sewn on. Available sizes for both types of gloves are 8, 8V2 and 9. Suggested list price is $8 per pair.

The European style motocross trousers are quite light. The black leather, accented with a bright yellow stripe, is thin yet very durable. Pads have been sewn into the hip and knee areas for added protection. A nylon mesh lining is permanently attached to the inside, making the trousers non-chafing as well as extremely comfortable. Sizes range from 28 in. through 36 in. in waist measurement, with a suggested list price of $60 per pair.

Good motorcycle riding boots aren’t easy to find. With these quality boots at your local Bultaco dealer, the problem is solved. Two styles are offered, the main difference being the type of sole that is fitted. The motocross boot has a smooth, thick leather sole, indented at the instep for footpeg grip. The sole of the trials type is cleated rubber. The uppers are black waterproofed leather, with six buckles for quick fastening. Full and half sizes ranging from 9 through 1 2 in medium width are available. Suggested retail price is $40.

For carrying all this equipment, along with the extras a serious rider might need, is a large duffel bag. It is made of a new type of vinyl material, which is practically scratch resistant.

SILENCE PLEASE

Scientific studies have proven that

noise can be just as fatiguing as physical exertion, and the racer is no exception. Modern high performance two-strokes produce noise of a very extreme nature, and constant exposure to it will surely have physical effect. J & R Manufacturing sells a straight-through type silencer that takes the edge off the racket, but not power output. These silencers bolt on to all expansion chambers, and if you have an outsized or odd-shaped stinger J & R will modify one to fit. The sound damping fiberglass filler can be cleaned and reused, but new ones cost only $2. The J & R silencer will not make your bike street legal but will free your ears from that piercing ring-ding note. J & R silencers are available from dealers or direct from J & R Manufacturing, Dept. CW-11, 6001 Maywood Ave., Huntington Park, CA 90255. Price is $8.95.
