Probably the most popular feature, appealing to almost every single motor cycle enthusiast who attended the show, was Clyde Earl's "Cycle World Movie Theatre," where some of the most fabu lous motorcycle movies to be found were shown continuously throughout the three days the show's doors were open.
L.A. LEADERS COMMEND MOTORCYCLE MAN
IyI~J U I #LI IYI?iIl After a morning of budget disagreement, the powerful Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County got together with a collec tion of Suzuki and agreed on one thing~ super salesman John C. McCormack de served a commendation for his leadership in helping build a new image for the motorcyclist, and for pioneering develop ment of the lightweight motorcycle market. Unanimous support of the commenda tion was voted by the Board immediately after the measure was introduced by Chair man Warren Dorn, who also chairs the committee supervising the Sheriff's De partrnent of Los Angeles County.
McCormack received the commenda tion in the form of a scroll, which cited his work as the former head of American Honda and presently as General Manager of U.S. Suzuki Corporation. Pointing out that some 300,000 Southern Californians and 2.500.000 Americans will ride "two wheelers" in the year ahead, the procla mation reads in part, "John C. McCormack has achieved international recognition for initiating the family concept of motorcycling for travel to desert, beach, mountains, school, shopping and work ..
The commendation also noted that Suzuki dealers instruct purchasers of twowheel vehicles in safety and courtesy matters. The award concluded with: "Now be it resolved that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles most heartily commend John C. McCormack for the leadership he has provided .. . and extend to him its best wishes for success to all his future efforts . .
WEBCO APPOINTS MIDWEST DISTRIBUTOR
KK Motorcycle Supply has been appointed regional distributor for Webco products in the midwestern states, Mr. T. N. Heininger of Webco recently announced.
AIRHEART TO PUSH DISC BRAKES
With the appointment of Edwin B. Stickle as vice president in charge of marketing, Mrs. Dorothy Airheart Nelson, president and chairman of Airheart Products, Inc., announced her company's intention to expand the sales program of their new line of Airheart disc brakes for motorcycles, automobiles and aircraft.
More than four years of research and development on all types of disc brakes have resulted in an improved line, and with production starting on a volume basis, additional sales-engineering effort is needed to serve the expanding market, Mrs. Airheart feels.
Stickle will have primary responsibility for directing the sales program. He is a graduate of California State Polytechnical College and has served 25 years with the aerospace industry, including 14 years at North American Aviation and 5Vi years with the Garrett Corporation. The introduction of the new line of brakes, coupled with the sales program, represents one of the biggest strides forward in the company's 15-year history.
HONDA COMMERCIALS LAUDED
Academy Awards telecast commercials for American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Gardena, California, have been selected for the permanent library of the Television Bureau in New York, it has been disclosed.
Jack O'Mara, TvB West Coast Vice President, said commercials chosen for inclusion in the permanent library are those which are gathered from various competitions, films used in highly successful campaigns, and commercials which are considered outstanding by members of the Bureau.
The unusual-length Honda commercials, which ran 85 and 95 seconds during the Academy Awards telecast were specially requested for inclusion in the permanent library by Pete Cash, TvB President. The Honda commercials were created by Grey Advertising, Inc., Los Angeles.
NEW FIBREGLASS ACCESSORIES

THE FAIR SEX ON CYCLES?
When the Automobile Show opened at the New York Coliseum recently, there was an innovation perhaps heralding a trend. There, greeting the visitors to the Ghost Motorcycle display and discussing such "unfeminine" things as motorcycles and scooters, was Mrs. Sal DeFeo, wife of Ghost's proprietor, who was home minding the Port Washington, Long Island store.

NEW PAINT OUTLASTS CHROME
If painted exhaust pipes are becoming popular on Custom and competition motorcycles, credit should go to the Sperex Corp., 1927 Pontius Ave., Los Angeles 25, Calif. They make available VHT (Very High Temperature) enamel, which was developed originally for missiles and space vehicles. Engine artists were quick to see the possibilities of a paint which can take 1200 degrees Farenheit without changing and began applying it to their header pipes in preference to chrome.
VHT comes in white, black, blue, red, yellow, grey, green and brown. Black and white are available in spray cans.
NEW FUEL ADDITIVE ANNOUNCED
Kartane Inc., Clinton 10, Michigan, has introduced a new fuel additive for competition cycles called Cycle Ad. The manufacturer claims the product increases power output, improves acceleration, gives faster starts and makes engines run cooler.
75cc BSA LIGHTWEIGHT DEBUTS
An important new addition to the BSA lineup is this new Starlite model, featuring a 75cc four-stroke, unit type engine and a total weight of only 140 lbs. Performance should be fairly brisk with its 4-speed gear-
box and 19" wide section tires. Starlite prototypes were subjected to a gruelling 30,000 mile de-bugging test over some of the roughest terrain in Britain before production started, so the new model is expected to be quite reliable.
SUZUKI "EAST" OPENS IN JACKSONVILLE
Moving a year ahead of schedule, the U.S. Suzuki Motor Corporation this month announced completion of an Eastern Division headquarters, at 4225 Clinton St., Jacksonville. Florida. The new $500,000 facility marks the first time that a major company has opened almost simultaneously on two coasts. U.S. Suzuki's national headquarters were formally opened at 200 West Central, in Santa Ana, California, early this year.
Two former competition riders and well known industry veterans have been selected to direct the Suzuki East operation, McCormack notes. They are Bob King, of Florida Cycle and Jim Aldous, proprietor of International Motor Mart, in Jacksonville. Instantaneous teletype service between Santa Ana and the East has been arranged, for "same day" ordering of machines and parts.
PORTABLE STEAM CLEANER
Cosmopolitan Motors, 5521 Wayne Ave., Philadelphia, Penna., now offers a portable steam cleaner that operates on fumefree bottled gas for forty cents an hour. It will clean the most road-stained motorcycle in ten minutes, can be rolled anywhere and used where connections for a garden hose and 110-volt outlet are located. NEW ALLOY SPEED PART
Weighing only 20 ounces, this alloy clutch hub for '6364 Triumph twins is a new addition to the Webco line of motorcycle speed parts. It will be available to all dealers soon. Machined from a solid billet and weighing only 20 ounces, it should offer a definite performance increase.
DESIGN AWARD TO HONDA
Japan's Honda received the prestigious Saturday Review's award as "one of the 20 best industrial designs since World War II."
The selection was announced by famed designer Walter Dorwin Teague in the national magazine's issue devoted to Design in America.
