NORTON TO TACKLE TT

REVIVED BRITISH MANUFACTURER NORTON INTENDS TO RACE in this June's Isle of Man Senior TT with a machine built in-house by the company's Spondon chassis division. It will be the first time Norton has contested the TI since Steve Hislop won the race in 1992 after an epic battle with Carl Fogarty.

Born without a name, the prototype is currently referred to simply as the "Norton TI Racer" around the Donington Park factory headquarters.

An Aprilia RSV4 engine, with electronics and EFI developed in conjunction with technical partner Active Technologies Limited, powers the machine. Aftermarket contributions include Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes. All styling and bodywork were designed and fabricated by Norton on site.

Current TT Privateer Champion Ian Mackman has signed on to ride the bike for the June 8 race on the Mountain Course. -Blake Conner
