NHTSA Recall No. 09V457000 Manufacturer: Harley-Davidson Models: All 2009-10 FL Touring, CVO Touring and Trike models manufactured from June 6, 2008, through November 19, 2009. Problem: The front fuel-tank mounts may distort in reaction to severe frame damage from a frontal collision, possibly causing a fuel leak where the front bracket is welded to the fuel-tank tunnel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire, which could lead to injury of the rider. Remedy: Dealers will install a left and right brace on the tank that is intended to reduce front mount distortion during certain crash conditions. Owners not receiving this free remedy may contact Harley-Davidson at 414/343-4056.

NHTSA Recall No. 09V471000 Manufacturer: BMW Models: 2009-10 K1300S and K1300GT models manufactured from September 11, 2008, through November 19, 2009. Problem: Poor fuel quality may lead to small deposits within the throttle bodies. During engine operation in a low rpm range, typically near idle speed (as when coming to a stop), air flow could be sufficiently restricted and engine stalling could occur, possibly resulting in a crash.

Remedy: BMW dealers will repair the motorcycles by updating the engine management software. Owners not receiving this free remedy may contact BMW at 800/831 -1117.

NHTSA Recall No. 09V499000 Manufacturer: BMW Models: 2008-10 F650GS and F800GS Problem: During engine operation, vacuum is created to draw fresh air into the emissions charcoal canister. This air then mixes with the fuel vapors captured by the canister and is subsequently combusted. Due to the routing of the canister’s ventilation hose, water near the end of the hose could be drawn into the canister, resulting in a stalling condition that increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: BMW dealers will inspect and add an additional hose and route it such that the present defect is prevented. Owners not receiving this free remedy may contact BMW at 800/831-1117.
