NHTSA Recall No. 08V659000 Harley-Davidson FXD, FXDF, FXDC,
FXDL AND FXDB Model year: 2009 Number of units involved: 3285 Problem: The Jiffy Stand spring anchor may have been built with a defective weld that may not allow the stand to retract as intended. This condition could lead to a crash.
Remedy: H-D dealers will remove the original Jiffy Stand spring anchor and replace it with a new one. Owners not receiving this free remedy should contact Harley-Davidson at 414/3424680.
NHTSA Recall No. 08V692000 BMW F800GS, F650GS Model year: 2008 Number of units involved: 509 Problem: During manufacture, the tightening of the drive-chain sprocket fasteners may have resulted in the application of various levels of torque, making it possible for the fasteners to work loose from the sprocket, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: BMW dealers will loosen and inspect the sprocket fasteners, and those that have been damaged will be replaced. In all cases, the fasteners will be retightened. Owners not receiving this free remedy may contact BMW at 800/831-1117. ■
