Ups & Downs
DOWN: To Vintage Iron, for tempting us to expand the old-time moto-crosser collection. The 10th annual Vintage Iron World Championships will be
held November 3 at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California. The one-day event-scheduled for the same weekend as the Vet World Championships-is set to run on Glen Helen's famed "vintage" track that will feature a miniature version of Mount St. Helens. "The course promises to be the most challenging and enjoyable vintage-fnendly circuit this side of Unadilla," said an organizer. For more information log on to www. vintageiron.com.
UP: To Superbike rules commit tees, for making racing more inter esting. Both AMA and World Superbike have new regulations on the table to allow Ducati to race its just-unveiled 1098 F08 homologa tion special. The new Buell 11 25R (see page 52) also would be legal for racing in both series, thanks to the capacity limit for Twins being raised to a maximum of 1200cc. Factory Ducati WSB racer Troy Bayliss debuted the F08 in black carbon-fiber bodywork at World Ducati Week, cutting laps at Italy's Misano racetrack. Expect the 1200cc 1098 racer to hit WSB in
2008, while the AMA rules indicate 2009 will be the earliest the machine will be legal U.S. series.
