COMING SOON: MONSTER 695
Ducati's entry-level naked bike gets a displacement boost with its new, 695cc two-valve desmo engine.
The same engine, which will also power the mini-Multistrada, is a destroked 800cc with radically oversquare cylinder dimensions of 88 x 57.2mm. This means the 695 breathes through much big-ger valves (but with smaller stems for better flow) than its 620cc predecessor. Claimed output is 73 horsepower, a 10-hp boost.
Other upgrades include the latest non-adjust able 43mm inverted Marzocchi fork and 300mm Brembo front brake discs with two-piston floating calipers. The 695 still uses the light-pull Adler Power Torque Clutch with slipper action. This is the nicest Ducati clutch by far.
As before, the smaflest Monster has a 30.3inch seat height, 1.2 inches lower than the other models. Big news is the 7500-mile maintenance intervals, up from 6200. Finally! The $7495
MSRP meanwhile, is unchanged.
