DESTINATION DAYTONA

You wanna talk big? Last October, Bruce Rossmeyer, already owner of 12 Harley-Davidson dealerships in Florida, Mississippi and Colorado, built the world's largest H-D retail store in Ormond Beach, Florida, five miles north of Daytona. The dealership is just one part of a 150acre complex, called Destination Daytona, much of which opened this past March during Bike Week, with the rest scheduled for completion in May.

In addition to the 1 09,000-square-foot dealership, the motorcycle-themed complex includes a condominium village, more than a half-dozen themed restaurants, numerous bars and nightclubs and a 35,000-sq.-ft. outdoor amphitheater called the Coca-Cola Pavilion. At its completion, the site will also house a high-rise hotel, a 15-acre campus for the American Motorcycle Institute technician training school, a J&P parts-and-accessories outlet, a 7000-sq.-ft. Arlen Ness Motorcycles store, an RV dealership, a 9-acre Love's Travel Stop, 10 acres of parking and more than 60,000 sq. ft. of motorcycle-related businesses. "This will be the definitive X biker's paradise," says Rossmeyer, "a tourist destination that bikers from all over the world will want to visit."
