UP: To Joshua Serne, for not letting cystic fibrosis get the better of him. Diagnosed at age 3, the now-6-year-old dirt-track and supermoto phenom has won numerous races and last year finished second in three Northern California racing series. DOWN: To the Colorado legislature for stalling the great (two) wheels of commerce. One of only 10 states that still enforces so-called “blue laws” that forbid, among other things, the sale of alcohol on Sunday, Colorado also strangely forbids the sale or even negotiation of price on motorcycles on the seventh day! Recently up for repeal, the bill was outvoted, so dealers still can’t sell on Sunday without facing a fine of up to $1000, six months in jail or having their driver’s license revoked!
UP: To Team Kawasaki, for improving the décor inside Team CW’s favorite lunch spot, Wahoo’s Fish Tacos. As a way of thanking the Southern California restaurant chain (whose original location is a stone’s throw from the Cycle World offices) for providing food for a presupercross-season pep-rally, Team Green presented each store with a display case containing parts from James “Bubba” Stewart’s KX250.
Of course, seeing as how Stewart sat out much of the supercross season with injuries, they had a lot of unused spares...
