Roadgear MultiTasker Sport
CW EVALUATIONS
Alternative to the courier bag?
A EROSTICH, TIMBUK2 AND OTHERS have refined the motorcycle courier bag to the point of near perfection. As a quick place to sling documents, books and the miscellaneous detritus of a normal commute, the classic over-the-opposite-shoulder courier bag is difficult to beat.
Roadgear, however, believes there is still room for alternatives. Its MultiTasker Sport offers a more business-class appearance, more organization and more alternative ways to carry it. Its shoulder strap can be used over the same-side shoulder-as with a purse or briefcasewhen you’re walking to the office, slung over the opposite shoulder as a courier bag while on the bike or avoided altogether by using the provided straps to secure it backpack-style.
The bag itself is a classic flap-over design with a rubberized briefcase handle, with both an open compartment and a larger zippered central compartment under the flap. An expansion zipper allows that central pouch to expand from
its normal svelte depth to almost 5 inches, and legal-size file pock ets will readily fit there. There are two additional zippered com
partments on either side of the bag: one on the flap and a thin one on the back that can be used for documents. The colored outer shell of the flap is made with corrugations, adding some visual eye-candy while providing useful expansion ability. Under the flap is the type of organizational area typically found on soft briefcases, with a 9 x 5!/2-inch zippered pocket, a zippered change pocket and no less than eight various-size sewn pockets that can be used to store pens, business cards, a tire gauge, etc.
So is the MultiTasker Sport better than existing courier bags? We’d say it’s simply different-more organized and more corporate, if at the cost of a little convenience. Think of it as the button-down alternative. E3
