SIZE MATTERS
Who needs Viagra when you have the world's longest chopper? Certainly not Rob Moore, Rick Dozerv, Frito Decker and Bill Longest, the Kentucky foursome that created this 29-foot, 3-inch giant under the shadetree Racing and Choppers banner (www.legendmcs.com). Bereft of bodywork (no, the flamed gas tank doesn’t count), the tube-framed, girder-forked fabrication is propelled by a kick-start, hand-shift, 100-cubic-inch Harley-Davidson Shovelhead, with spent gases flowing through what may also be record-length header pipes. Forward motion happens by way of chains joined to a handmade jackshaft, which also locates the twin PM disc brakes. The oil tank began life as a fire extinguisher,
while a second extinguisher serves as a supply tank for the air horn. After its maiden outing this past June (“The first ride was terrifying,” admits Dozerv, but now, with a bit of practice under his belt, he’s ready to go for third gear), the machine was given the offiv cial stamp of approval by Guinness World Records in London. Previously, the “World’s Longest Motorcycle” was 24-foot, 11-inch “Big Ben,” which was built in Perth, Australia, in 1998 by Douis and Roger Bell. See, bigger is better.
