TRIUMPH’S UNFAIRED FOUR

Banking on the success of its three-cylinder Speed Triple (now fueled by the Daytona sportbike’s 955cc powerplant), Triumph has unveiled a 599cc four-cylinder version of that machine. The 2002 Speed Four is based on the latest edition of the fully faired, fuel-injected, aluminum-framed TT600, but tuned more for midrange torque. Speed Triple-esque chrome headlights are capped by a small instrument cowl and flanked by elongated air-intake ducts, all painted to match the rest of the bike’s minimalist bodywork. Priced at $7499, the Speed Four will be offered in three colors-Roulette Green, Tangerine Orange and Jet Black.
