HUSKY'S MINI-THUMPER
If you thought Yamaha was the only manufacturer headed full-steam into the 250cc four-stroke market, think again. Husqvarna unveiled this compact gem at last September’s Munich Show. KTM and Gas Gas have 250cc Thumpers derived from larger-displacement engines, but the Husky is purpose-built. Appearances indicate the liquid-cooled Single has dual overhead cams, a counterbalancer and both electricand kick-
starting. Rumors suggest that newly signed, two-time AMA 125cc National Motocross Champion Steve Lamson may race the bike in the 125cc class if, as in the 250cc category, fourstroke prototypes remain eligible. Sources also say there is a big brother in the works. Expect a 2002 launch for both enduro and motocross versions.
