HARLEY “BLASTS” NEW RIDERS
ROUNDUP
Harley-Davidson is out to ensure its future-and the future of motorcycling. Using its beginner-friendly Buell Blast and extensive dealer network, The Motor Company has created a novel new rider-training program: the Harley-Davidson Rider's Edge Academy of Motorcycling. “Now, new riders can experience motorcycling in a safe, controlled environment using proven Motorcycle Safety Foundation curriculum,” says H-D Chairman and CEO Jeff Bleustein. Dealers will supply the classrooms, insurance, instructors, practice ranges and bikes. Schools are already underway in Albuquerque and Las Vegas, with more to come. “We expect 20 to 40 dealers this year,” says program director Lara Lee. Bleustein predicts Rider’s Edge will remove any barriers associated with getting into motorcycling. “Hopefully, the program will have a greater long-term impact on motorcycling than anything in history.”
