UnderWARE Glove Liners
CW EVALUATION
Blisterlessness
EVERY OFF-ROAD RIDER HAS FELT THE stinging pain of blistered palms, and the dirt donks on the CW staff are no exception. One editor’s paws were so raw after the Glen Helen 6-Hour a couple of years ago that “Moto World” showed them full-screen, clenching the finisher’s pin he’d earned. The ironic thing is, he had the means to prevent blisters right in his gearbag!
Many moons ago, Dale Parsons from Off-Road Specialties sent the magazine a set of his UnderWARE glove liners. Woven from 100 percent virgin kevlar, these are designed to prevent blisters by letting your gloves “float” over the liners instead of chafing your palms. But because the editor in question found the liners too confining under his tight-fitting sizeXL gloves, they were relegated to the bottom of his gearbag.
Recently, however, that same editor learned that UnderWARE now has a product that solves the dilemma: fingerless glove liners. Called “Qualifiers” in deference to their intended use by ISDE competitors, who don’t need any extra material getting between their hands and tools while performing trailside repairs, these shorty liners slipped right under our editor’s regular motomitts, and presto, no more blisters! A successful outing in this year’s Glen Helen 6-Hour was followed by the acid test: the Glen Helen 24-Hour. In fact, all six riders on Team CW wore UnderWARE liners, and none suffered any blisters. Oh, there were calluses aplenty. But blisters? Not a one.
