BIMOTA FOR SALE, AGAIN
Bimota's struggle for survival reached a dramatic nadir in June, when company boss Francesco Tognon and primary shareholder Edoardo Miroglio decided to liquidate the bike-maker's assets. This, after clothing-tycoon Miroglio had poured loads of lira into the Rimini, Italy-based factory to restore its financial credibility and re-establish production. Reportedly, the final nail in the coffin was the decision to homologate the Suzuki TL1000-engined SBBK (shown) for participation in the World Superbike Championship, a program that has now been suspended. Lack of funds stopped production, while the number of angry creditors continued to grow.
