Good vibrations

VIBRATION IS BAD. OKAY, WE ADMIT TO occasionally dropping coin on Magic Fingers at roadside motels. But when it comes to dirtbikes, and especially their handlebars, vibration only results in arm pump. Fortunately, there is a cure for this: Fasst Company's Anti-Vibration Bar Inserts.

Designed specifically for aftermarket aluminum handlebars, the bolt-on bar-ends fit Renthal, Pro-Taper, 909 bars and their like. We ordered a set for the Renthals we installed on our year-2000 CR250, the likeliest culprit for vibration there is.

Installation of the brass bar inserts is as simple as dabbing a bit of grease on the O-rings and sliding them in. Then, tighten the 5mm Allen bolts, which compress the elastomeric expansion joints. The throttle tube and grips then slip easily over the inserts. You can hardly tell they’re there-until you ride the bike.

The vibration at idle remains, and the clutch and brake levers still shake when the engine is revved. But at speed, the intensity of the vibration is definitely altered. If you’re paying attention, you’ll pick up a vibe at lower rpm. But the shakes that rattle you-the ones that occur when the powervalve starts to open-are gone. They prompted one tester to comment, “Now we need something for the footpegs!”

Fasst Company’s Anti-Vibration Bar Inserts made our bike more pleasant and less fatiguing to ride. You can’t ask for much more than that. □
