ROYAL STAR IN DRAG

Like Americas Europe is currently in the throes of cruiser fever. So it comes as little surprise that after the Royal Star's successful European introduction, Yamaha decided to build more accessible middleweight cruiser.

Enter the XVS65O Drag Star. According to Yamaha,, the Drag Star features many Royal Star design elements, such as its long, low chassis, available two-tone paint schemes and easily customized bodywork But the Drag Star is in fact a larger version of the 400cc modal available in Japan (see "Royal. Starlet," Cl'!, November, 1996) Like its smaller brother, the 649cc Drag Star'5. air-cooled V-Twin IS: based: on the. Virago's 535cc mill, but with increased bore and stroke figures for additional low-end and midrange power; indeed, peak torque is obtained at just 3000 rpm.

In Europe, the Drag Star is available in black, orange/black and silver/ blue. Although rumors persist that a larger displacement version of the bike might be U.S.-bound, Yamaha maintains the $7962 Drag Star 650 will remain in Europe. Our loss, their gain.
