SPEEDSTAR SHOWBIKE
Cycle World featured his very first custom motorcycle just one year ago (see "Super Stars," February, 1996), and now, Jeff Paihegyi has taken Yamaha's Royal Star to new heights.
This power cruiser is diametrically opposed to his previous, nostalgic-looking effort. "I wanted to shock everyone," Palhegyi admits.
The'29-year-old designer had a tough time sourcing parts, so he made his own. He hammered the sheetmetal, carved out the billet wheels and virtual ly redesigned every part to his own swoopy, minimal ist criteria.
Could this be the next Royal Star model from Yama ha? "It wouldn't surprise me if this theme got carried into production" Palhegyi re veals. "It really picks up on the younger crowd."
