HIGH-CLASS COLLECTIBLE

Make no mistakes, the cool-looking Harley shown here ain't cheap. In fact, its price is $15,000. Reasonable for a custom Big Twin, until closer inspection reveals that this boulevard bruiser is really a coffee-table collectible. Weigh ing just 12 pounds, the 11-inch-tall miniature is the work of 56-year-old Don Nowell. Why all the expense? "I wanted to build a world-class model," says the former toy de signer. World-class is almost an understatement: Nowell's V-Twin incorporates castaluminum cylinder heads and engine cases, and a machined-from-billet prima ry cover. Other special touches include the machined rear wheel and working suspension. Intrigued? Commission your own model from Nowell (P.O. Box 33321, Granada Hills, CA 91394; 818/363-8564).
