ROUNDUP
DEL MAR CONCOURS COMING
The 24th annual Del Mar Concours D’Elegance, the biggest classic-bike show on the West Coast, is scheduled for October 14 in Del Mar, California. This year’s theme is “A Salute to the American Motorcycle." Pre-registration is required for show participants. For information, contact the San Diego Antique Motorcycle Club, 619/299-9222.
DAYTONA TIMES TWO
Can’t get enough of that salt-air, open-pipe Harley rumble? Want one more chance to ride the ol’ scoot before winter closes in? What you need, then, is Daytona Beach’s second-annual Biketoberfest, autumn counterpart to March’s Cycle Week, scheduled for October 20-22. Among the events planned are ride-in bike shows, field events, maintenance seminars and an exhibition of bikes, clothing and accessories. More than 40,000 riders are expected to attend the event, sponsored by the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
CLUB FOR PUFFERS
There’s a club for everything, it seems, even one dedicated to the preservation of factory turbocharged motorcycles. That would be the Turbo Motorcycle International Owners Association, with dues of $20 per year ($35 overseas), for which members get a quarterly newsletter, classified ads, technical information and a members’ directory. To join, contact the TMIOA at P0. Box 385, Westtown, PA 19395; 610/431-4257.
FOR THE RECORD
The Dainese Safety Pro one-piece leather riding suit evaluated in the August issue does not come standard with perforations and ram-air shoulder vents as stated. Those non-optional features were added to our test leathers at the factory.
