H-D CAFE OPENS IN NEW YORK

THE FIRST HARLFY-DAVIDson Cafe is open in New York City, with splashy displays and special effects. It’s not all glitz though, they take the food seriously there.

Owner Marc Packer brought in chef Jay Lippin, who worked at Montrachet, one of the city’s best French restaurants.

The cafe, located at 56th Street and 6th Avenue, öfters everything from squid to sandwiches, along with a wine list, exotic drinks and non-alcoholic offerings. Food prices were described in New York magazine as “moderate.”

The interior design is no less diverse than the menu, with Harley history and classic bikes helping to fill 14,000 square feet. Diners can walk down a replica of Route 66, and experience a multi-media presentation with lights dimming, Harleys revving and seats vibrating.

All this could come to a city near you. Harley-Davidson is keeping track of the cafe’s sueccss, and could license restaraunts in other locations,
