BEST-HANDLING HARLEY EVER?

HILE HARLEYDavidson continues to struggle to develop an engine for its longoverdue VR1000 racebike, a British-Swedish alliance has produced a machine that may be the best-handling Harley of all time.

The bike is called the Claymore H-D, and is the product of Claymore Racing, which is based in Upsalla, Sweden. It uses a tubular aluminum frame built by Spondon Engineering of England, and is fitted with a box-section aluminum swingarm, an Öhlins shock, a White Power fork and bodywork based on that of the Yamaha TZ250.

The chassis is designed to accept Evolution-style Sportster engines, and can be assembled for either race or street use. Claymore (Egilsgatan 8A, 753 34 Uppsala, Sweden; phone 011-46-18260880) will sell a frame kit, a rolling chassis, or a complete motorcycle, with the price for the basic frame kit starting at about $5000.
