MOTO GUZZI'S NEW V-TWIN UP CLOSE
If you've read Cycle World's preview of the Moto Guzzi Daytona 1000 (May, 1992), you know that its engine uses a valvetrain design called "cam-inhead." Here's a photograph of the Daytona 1000's engine that reveals the details of the engine's cam placement. The cams, located high in the cylinder heads, are driven by toothed belts and operate the rockershafts via short pushrods. This is exactly the valve actuation system sources say BMW has chosen for its all-new Superboxer (see accompanying Roundup story).
