HAPPY TRIALS TO YOU...
Trials bikes have been made for years by small motorcycle manufacturers that afford to produce relatively few of the specialized models each year. The largest motorcycle manufacturers tried to produce trials bikes for a boom that never occurred and since that time, fewer and fewer trials bikes have been available. Now that rumors of Bultaco's demise are mounting, the sport could be whittled down further if not for the efforts of Italjet.
Italjet, which makes a range of small motorcycles and mopeds, has hired Manuel Soler and Manuel Villavecchia, who were responsible for development of Bultaco trials bikes, and the Italian concern plans on introducing new trials models and contesting the world championship. So far several international trials riders, including Bernie Schreiber, the American world champion, have tried Italjet trialers. Schreiber, midway through the trials season, signed with Italjet to ride the 350 and followed up with a win in the Italian round of the world trials championship.
The U.S. Italjet importer, Strada (13148 Saticoy St., N. Hollywood, Calif. 91605), says no plans have been made to import the Italjet Trials to the U.S.
