WHERE ARE THE HODAKAS?
There are still some Hodakas available to the public, but don't count on finding one at your local dealer. Pabatco (Pacific Basin Trading Company) has imported Hodakas to this country since the mid sixties but now is out of the Hodaka business.
Hodaka Industrial Co. in Japan is a separate manufacturer which produced the motorcycles until recent economic con ditions forced them to stop production.~ When that happened. Pabatco still had several thousand Hodakas in transit. Now Pabatco has sold all parts and accessories~ for Hodakas to Wheels of Time, Inc. (P.O. Box 7-A. Island Route. Lock Haven. Pa. 17745). Whether Wheels of Time will be able to resume import of Hodakas is as yet undecided. Ed Martin of Wheels of Time has said there is a desire to resume produc tion but a final decision would have to wait until the yen-dollar valuation has sta bilized. He said a number of new designs. including four-stroke engines, have been considered for new Hodaka motorcycles. Until the status of Hodaka finally is determined, Hodaka owners should still be able to find parts through Bill's Hodaka Sales, I-lighway~22 West, Mexico, Mo. 65265 or through Wheels of Time. And there still are a couple of Hodakas, mostly 250s. unsold, Martin said.
