TALKING ABOUT SAFETY

A little more than a year from now, May 18-23, 1980, experts in motorcycle safety will gather at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Washington, D.C. for what will be the largest international motorcycle safety conference yet conducted.

The conference was first proposed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation nearly a year ago. Last summer a steering committee met at MSF offices in Maryland to plan the conference. Members of the steering committee are Ed Youngblood of the AMA. Ken Ito of Yamaha Motor Corp.. Mel Stahl of the MIC, Stu Munro of Transport Camada. Dr. James McKnight of the National Public Services Research Institute. Lew Buchanan and Herbert Mil ler of N HTSA and Bob Carpenter of Road Rider Magazine.

Conference participants will present technical and research papers in eight areas: psychology of driving, novice rider education, advanced rider education, mo torcycle licensing, vehicle dynamics and safety systems. public education and infor mation, problem identification and analy sis, and mopeds.
