WINTER RACING IN MEXICO

Mild winter weather in Mexico means that racing continues year-round, and two upcoming events will be of interest to American competition riders in search of some south-of-the-border diversion. On January 5th and January 19th, the Motoclub Monterrey hosts T.T. Scrambles races at San Pedro Motodromo in Monterrey, and a cordial invitation has been extended to riders from the U.S. to compete in either or both events. For further information, interested parties may contact Motoclub Monterrey, P.O. Box 27, Col. Del Valle, Monterrey, N.L., Mexico.

ANNUAL H-D DEALERS RALLY & PICNIC

Good old-fashioned field meets seem to be few and far between these days, though it is hard to imagine why, since they are so much fun. Accompanying photos show some typical action at the recent Annual Fall Rally and Picnic sponsored by the Metropolitan Harley-Davidson Dealers Association of New York City, and held at Platzel Brauhaus, Pamona, N.Y. Barrel rolling, plank riding and various other activities were enthusiastically undertaken, with gift certificates going to winners in each category. The well-attended meet will be followed up by a similar event in the spring, as soon as weather permits.

AVON PICTURE PARADE Every 1963 solo motorcycle world's champion is included in a new picture card folder to be given away by the Avon Rubber Co., Ltd., Melksham, Wilts, England, including Phil Read and Sammy Miller, the trials ace. Riders are shown in action and also include Mike Hailwood, Jim Redman, Tarquino Provini and Hugh Anderson. Every one of the 30 photos contained in the folder is of bubble-gum card size and is backed with a capsule history of the rider depicted and his successes in 1963. All are printed on a single sheet to be cut out. Every rider shown used Avon tires in 1963 (prior to Avon's retirement from the manufacture of racing tires), and since 1958 all solo motorcycle records have been made on Avon tires. Altogether 31 world's solo motorcycle championships and 77 world's records have been won on Avon-equipped machines. •
